MY SKILLS

What am I good at and what makes me authentic

MULTILINGUAL

Always aiming to speak your language

My mothertongue is Dutch. Since I live in the frenchspeaking part of Belgium and work for a company where the corportate language is French, I cannot help adding some "Merci", "Voila" when I speak Dutch...

From a young age at secondary school I already started learning French and German in addition to English.

I have to admit that I really learned to speak French when I lived in Paris. I pratically did not have a choice neither...at that time very few Parisians spoke english and the first 2 training weeks everything was in French. So within days I practically dreamt in French. Best way to do it, I do not regret it.

I also learned some Italian but this remains basic. Enough to reserve a table at an Italian restaurant and do some small talk.

German was my best quoted course while studying and it must be in there somewhere. It usually comes out pretty fluent after a few minutes and a few beers ;)

And for English...communicating, reading and understanding are no issue for me. Writing is challenging, that's why I created this website in English to improve this skillset too.

VERSATILITY

A powerful interpersonal skill

When you ask me what I do excactly at my job as International Business Developper, I could reply " What don't I do?" There are so many different things I do on a day. Price en market analysis, translations, presenting the company and it's products to customers, making competitve price offers, matching offer and demand...

My colleagues sometimes call me the "pieuvre" meaning octopus. They know that they can contact me for everything. An advantage for sure, but only if you keep an eye on your "limits". I am very grateful that I've had this opportunity to experience the different aspects within the company. It is so interesting to see that everything is linked.

HSP

A trademark of being truly alive and compassionate

Not so long ago I followed a course about being introvert in combination with being HSP, "High Sensitive Person".  I already knew I was a quite sensitive person but this course learned me to embrace it instead of fighting it.

When I come in a room and I can feel the energy in there. I can feel it when someone is feeling sad. Words are not needed. I see my vulnerability as a strength not as a weakness.
